Hail Caesar! Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.

Does Andy Serkis deserve an Oscar? I don't care. Was this movie any good? Absolutely. This is a definite buy on Blu-Ray.The sequel to the pre-prequel to the re-boot of the original movie. Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.

Behind the scenes of Dawn of The Planet of The Apes
Intense.

Ten years after what happened in the previous movie, with the simian flu nearly wiping out the entire population of the world,a group of genetically enhanced chimpanzees with Caesar as the leader is now living as a colony just outside San Fransico. When a small band of human survivors emerges, leading to an eventual conflict of interests, it poses Caesar with the dual challenge of protecing his own kind and reestablishing a working relationship with the humans, the latter being his personal wish.

This movie stepped it up on every level, like a sequel should. Be it the the characters or the plot.Oh,was the plot interesting! This movie took quite a few unexpected turns.Just when I was starting to think-"Okay,so this is what it's going to be about",the movie decided to take a completely different route (this happened more than once).I like when a movie does that.Makes it unpredictable,in a good way.

It's really cool to see the ape colony just--exist.They're still growing, sure, but they are there. As for the characters,I think the main human character,Malcolm(Jason Clark) does a fairly good job but he's just overshadowed by Caesar.Caesar just seems to be in command. You could compare Caesar to Malcolm, trying to sort things out without violence while trying to make sure of the safety of their own people.Gary Oldman's in this movie and he's good as well.

CGI in this movie was pretty good. There were close up shots of Caesar that looked.No.'Felt' very real to me.Partial credits go to Andy Serkis. Morally, this movie is not clear cut 'black or white'.It's in the moral grey zone.It makes you question whether humans deserve to be the dominant species or whether the apes are the real threat. While Caesar believed that apes were better than humans, there is a point in this movie where he ponders on how very similar they are to humans.

Overall,I loved the characters, the situation the tension--pretty much everything about this movie. You could compare this franchise to the Dark Knight Trilogy. Both are arguably better than the previous adaptation(s),having a pretty decent first movie and the sequel being even better.Let's just hope that War Of The Planet Of The Apes becomes an anomaly to this comparison(admit it,Dark Knight Rises could have been better).

So have you seen this movie. What did you think about it?What movie should I review next?Comment below.

Christopher Nolan's take on space drama:Interstellar

Okay,so in Interstellar, we see a dying Earth with corn being the only crop left for humanity. Now, this movie does a really good job at establishing this world with conditions which are threatening to make humans extinct.

"What can happen,will happen."
So, as a solution, Cooper(Matthew McConaughey),a farmer who used to be a test pilot for NASA is sent to another galaxy with a team, through a wormhole to find another habitable planet.Throughout the movie we get to see a very interesting relationship between Cooper and his daughter,Murph(played by 14 year old Mackenzie Foy and by Jessica Chastain. Both deliver amazing performances). This was one of the movies strongest points.Without this father-daughter duo dynamic, the film would have lacked the emotional aspect it very much needed.I really wanted him to succeed for the same reason he wanted to-To get back to his daughter(and a son,who he pretty much neglects).

In a movie like this you'd expect to see the concept of relativity being thrown around and this movie does that really well.Relativity, in this movie was shown in a way no other movie ever has.Props to Nolan for that.Unfortunately , for me, the plot could have been improved in a few ways.I cannot pinpoint without spoiling,so I won't.But you'll know what I was talking about once you've seen the movie.
The movie starts out really strong and is able to keep up for a while as well, but then fails to keep it flowing through till the end.

Hans Zimmer's score was not extra-ordinary but,it really suited the tone of the movie. The music felt intense during intense scenes and that's all it needed to be for this film.Interstellar, according to me, was not the best space movie ever.Yes,it had spectacular visuals and it's an amazing cinematic experience with good acting by almost all of the cast. But I think Nolan is capable of making movies with better plots, like he has in the past(and probably will in the future).
Please note that I am not saying that this movie failed to deliver. It did.Just not on all levels, for me.

Regardless of flaws, Interstellar is a very good space drama of a rare kind and is definitely a must watch.Nolan's will to give the audience a unique cinematic experience is admirable and praiseworthy.
